BTT: Mystery or Love Story

This weeks Booking Through Thursday question is:

All things being equal, which would you prefer–a mystery? Or a love story?

My Response:

This is an interesting question for me. I was originally a mystery lover, I enjoyed nothing more than sitting back to read the latest Patricia Cornwell novel. Then I was introduced to Young Adult fiction, and I was hooked.

Young Adult fiction has made love stories more interesting for me, I was always under the impression that for a story to be classed as a love story it had to be like Mills and Boons - big turnoff - but I am pleased to say that I was totally wrong.  I have read so many YA books now, that I can say love stories are the books I enjoy the most.

Thats my response to the question. What's your answer?

BTT: Mood Reading

This weeks Booking Through Thursday question is:

Do you find that your mood affects the things you read? Like, if you’re in a bad mood, do you tend to indulge in reading that will support it or do you try to read things that will cheer you up? Do you pick different types of books on dreary, rainy days than you do on bright sunny ones?
For that matter, does your mood color what you’re reading, so that a funny book isn’t so funny or a serious one not so deep?

My Response:

My mood definitely affects the way I read more so than the things I read. If I'm in a happy mood I tend to read two books in a week, or more, depending upon the book.  If I'm feeling a bit down, or in my case depressed, then I don't tend to read at all. This in itself annoys me, as I have always enjoyed reading.

If I do manage to read a book, during a depressive state, then they tend to be dark, gruesome books. So thats why I dont tend to read when I'm in that mind set.

BTT: Own or Borrow

This weeks Booking Through Thursday question is:

All things being equal (money, space, etc), would you rather own copies of the books you read? Or borrow them?

I do both. I borrow a book from the library to see if I like it, especially if its a new author that I'm trying, and if I have enjoyed the book I will then buy two copies - one for my kindle app and a physical book as well.  I mainly do this because I don't want to take my books out with me, plus I do a lot of reading at night so having the book on my kindle means I save money on my electricity bill. Not really a good thing as I spend the savings I make on more books. Doing this I have amassed over 300 books both on my kindle app and on my bookshelves.
